Dennis Wayne Tate

Mr. Dennis Wayne Tate, Sr. age 68, of Mount Airy passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Tate was born on May 3, 1956, in Surry County to Edgar “Edd” Tate and the late Martha Loraine Harrell Tate.  Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Freida Tate; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis “Wayne” Tate, Jr. and wife Amanda, Burt Tate and wife Tracy; grandchildren and spouses, Kendall Tate and Lauren, Garrett Tate and Chloe, Claudia Tate Mauck and Ryan, Allyni Tate Strickland and Landon, Colton Tate, Maggie Tate; great grandchildren, Melanie Tate, Preston Wayne Tate, and one on the way; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Tate Taylor and husband David, Susie Tate Holt and Norman, Phyllis Tate Martin and Ansley, Valerie Tate Dollyhite and Melvin; brother and sister-in-law, Steve Tate and Kitty.  Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Lorraine Harrell Tate; and a brother, James Tate.  A funeral service will be held on    day, June 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with Reverend Dwight Sechrist officiating.  Interment will follow in The Peoples Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on June 7, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 12:30 until time of the service.  Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Tate Family.
