Diane Puckett Kendrick
Diane “Bunny” Puckett Kendrick, age 80, of Appomattox, Virginia died May 17, 2026, in her hometown. Born on January 15, 1946, Diane was the 4th of 5 children of Herman and Louise (Grishaw) Puckett. In her early twenties, Diane moved to Orlando, Florida, where she planted roots and raised her three children. While her children were younger, Diane worked at St. Andrew’s Catholic School, where she was actively involved in the school and church and cherished the relationships she built there. In 1986, Diane moved to the Midwest where she met the love of her life, John N. Kendrick. They resided in Columbia, Missouri where she worked at St. Stephen’s College and eventually retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. Sharing a love for the beach and the ocean, they ultimately relocated to Florida to be closer to Diane’s family. Diane especially loved the Atlantic Ocean where she could hear the waves, and together they made their home in Satellite Beach, where they settled for the remainder of their lives together. Diane’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She had a deep love for God and found strength, comfort, and peace in daily worship. In early 2025, Diane returned to her hometown of Appomattox, Virginia, where she spent the last year of her life living with her beloved sister and caretaker, Debbie Knight, surrounded by extended family and lifelong memories. She treasured the last year of her life, especially the time she spent with her great-great-nephew, Phoenix, who dearly loved his Aunt Bunny. She was known for her caring nature, her ability to listen, and the thoughtful advice she shared with others. Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John N. Kendrick; her daughter, Dawn du Mee; her parents, Herman and Louise Puckett; her brother, Junior Puckett; and her sisters, Cecilia Ayers and Dee Johnson. She is survived by her son, Rob Allen (Chrissy); daughter, Pam Hull (Joe); seven grandchildren, Briana and Jenna du Mee, Brady, Delaney and Riley Allen, Chase and Reece Hull; her sister, Debbie Knight; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Deeply loved by her family, she brought warmth, strength, and comfort to those around her. Her love will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends. Her kindness, steady presence, strong will and the many quiet ways she cared for others will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 20206 at 11:00 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, in Rockledge, Florida.
