Donald D. Ferrell
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald D. Ferrell, on December 3, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia. Donald, 88, was a devoted Christian and husband, and an endearing father and grandfather. He was adored and cherished throughout his life and will be deeply missed.
Donald was born on October 9, 1937, in Roanoke, Virginia. During his childhood, he lived in Roanoke City. He was an avid golfer with a passion for the sport from an early age. His talent and dedication led to him being recruited by the William Fleming High School golf team, where he then proudly represented the school. After graduating from William Fleming High School, he continued his post-secondary education to become an accountant. Donald continued to play golf until the age of 85.
Donald is survived by his caring wife, Martha Slocum Ferrell. On March 7, 1958, Donald married the love of his life, Martha. Their 67-year marriage was a testament of their enduring love. Donald is also survived by two children, Donna F. King, and Sherry F. Crickenberger (Chuck), along with his two grandchildren, Ella Crickenberger and Collin Crickenberger.
To honor and celebrate Donald’s life, a visitation and memorial service will be held on December 8, 2025, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with the memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm, Angella Haranzo, Ray Bayse, and Jim Stovall officiating. After the service, guests are invited to join the family at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a tribute donation to Donald’s church, Vinton Church of the Brethren, located at 711 Dale Avenue, Vinton, Virginia 24179.
