Donald Eugene Martin

Donald Eugene Martin, 70, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. He was born on March 21, 1956, in Lee County, Virginia, to Willie Mae Hopkins Quessenberry and the late McKinley “Papa Mac” Quessenberry, his stepfather, and the late Grover Eugene “Gene” Martin, his father.

In addition to his father and stepfather, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Martin.

Donald was a hardworking man who devoted more than 20 years to the furniture industry. He took pride in working with his hands and especially enjoyed woodworking. He also had a great love for animals and was an avid NASCAR fan. Donald was a member of Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and creating memories.

In addition to his mother, Willie Quessenberry, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca B. Martin; daughters, Tonya Woods and Amy Osborne (Jeff); sons, Donald Martin, Jr. (Robyn), James Smith, Jr. (Sonia) and Quincy Smith (Jessica); sister, Brenda Brogan; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his beloved fur babies; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2026, at Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
