Donald W. Walker

Donald W. Walker, 91, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at SOVAH Hospital of Martinsville.

After more than 30 years of service, Donald retired from the US Postal Service. He volunteered at the hospital after his retirement. He was an elder and charter member of First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville.

Donald was born January 17, 1933, in Fieldale, Va. to the late Thomas F. and Ethel Vaughan Walker. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Alex B. Walker and his sister, Edith Slaughter Maxwell.

He was married for 70 years to Gladys Martin Walker, who survives at the residence. In addition to his beloved wife, Gladys, Donald is survived by two daughters, Charlene Bowling (Fred) of Martinsville and Donna Carter (Robert) of Halifax; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Wilderholt and Reverend Bill Charles. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
