Donna Hugus

July 6, 1969 - January 4, 2024

Mrs. Donna Simmons Hugus, age 54, of Covington, died Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. She was the wife of Glen R. Hugus.
Mrs. Hugus was born July 6, 1969 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Curtis Charlie Simmons and Betty Akers Simmons. Donna Hugus was a very caring and attentive person. Her greatest desire was to help others which she did all the way up to her final moments by saving three lives through organ donation.
She served many years on the Falling Spring Rescue Squad with her husband. Even then she spent her free time reaching out and giving solace and peace to those who were once in her position. She did all this over the course of 24 years with residual back pain from her own accident years prior, migraines and knee pain. Her pain never stopped her from alleviating the pain of others.
She was always happy to sit down with a good book to explore a new world, passionate about her photography to help capture the beauty of ours, shopping for gifts for anyone and everyone, and going on "house sits" to care for others beloved pets and belongings while they were out of town.
Even with a life as full as Donna’s nothing ever took precedence more than her family; she was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and dog mom. Also, no matter how mad she was she never went to bed angry at anyone she loved and made sure above all else they knew she loved them so as to never question if she did or not. The world will never be the same without someone as amazing as Donna Hugus in it.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hugus is survived by two sons, Levi Curtis Hugus (Carlee) of Covington and Ty Richard Hugus (Zahara Alamood) of Covington; a daughter, Hope Abigail Tincher (Caleb) of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Wren Mae Hugus and Ellie Mae Tincher; five brothers, Andrew Simmons, Kenny Simmons, Charles Simmons, Calvin Simmons and Gene Simmons; three sisters, Rachel Arnett, Janeice Atwood of Roanoke and Julie Kirk of Virginia; and a lot of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hugus was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Foster.
