Donna J. Walker
Donna J. Walker, 91, passed away in her home on April 11, 2025, in Morristown, Tennessee surrounded by her family. Born on February 3, 1934, in Buchanan County, Virginia, Donna lived a life marked by unwavering faith, tireless devotion to her family, and a heart committed to serving others and her Lord.
Throughout her life, Donna provided for her family as both a seamstress and a homemaker. She worked diligently to ensure her three children were cared for and nurtured with love and stability. As a single parent for much of her children’s upbringing, she balanced full-time work with the responsibilities of motherhood and service to others in her neighborhood and church. Her mornings began before dawn—rising early to prepare hearty breakfasts of eggs, bacon, homemade biscuits, and pancakes—leaving them warm in the oven so her children would start their day nourished even after she had left for work at 5:30 AM.
Donna’s deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord with all her heart and dedicated herself fully to His mission. Her devotion was not only expressed through worship but also through action—serving others in need with compassion and humility. Whether cooking meals for the sick or offering help to friends and family during difficult times, Donna embodied Christ’s teachings through everyday acts of kindness. She sang joyfully in the church choir while raising her children and found peace and purpose in gardening, canning, sewing, and worship.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her two daughters Kim Harvey [Larry] and Jan Fleury [Brent]; her seven grandchildren Jason Coleman [Jessica], Heather Roland, Rebecca Jenkins [David], Chelsea Ratzlaff [Michael], Sydney Hagan [Ethan], Brynn Byers [Forrest], and Heath Fleury; and sixteen great-grandchildren Georgia Jenkins, Gloria Jenkins, Genevieve Jenkins, Gemma Jenkins, Gianna Jenkins, Zellie Jenkins, Deaglan Hagan, Estelle Hagan, Josephine Hagan, Berkley Byers, Grant Byers, Brock Johnson, Donovan Roland, Patrick Coleman, Preston Coleman, and Amber Coleman.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother Edna Hartman, beloved son Faron Coleman [Susan Coleman]; grandson Jacob Harvey; sisters Helen Fulton and Fredis Metheny; and brothers Archie Brown and Buddy Brown.
A graveside service honoring Donna’s life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sherwood Memorial Park located at 1250 East Main Street in Salem, Virginia.
Donna will be remembered as an extraordinary woman whose gentle spirit touched many lives. Her enduring faith and selfless love continue to inspire all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
