Donna Lynn Childress Light

Donna Lynn Childress Light, 70, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. Donna was born in Danville, VA on November 24, 1955 to the late Janie Gray Tate Childress and the late James Clyde Childress. She is survived by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Michael Wayne Light.

Donna was of the Christian Faith. She worked for many years as a school bus driver for Pittsylvania County Schools. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother to her family.

In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by two sons; Scott Light (Cara) of Burlington, KY, and Jason Light (Tiffany) of Japan; two brothers; David “Buck” Childress (Karen) and Billy Childress (Joy); a sister; Mona Lewis; two grandchildren; Michael and Gabe; and three step grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:00am at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Joe Kendrick officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day just prior to the service from 10-11:00am also at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA.
