Coreen Johnson Hairston

Coreen Johnson Hairston, 84, of Bassett, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She was born September 11, 1938, in Virginia to the late Hughes Johnson and Annie Staples Johnson.

Coreen attended Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ, Martinsville, Virginia. In her earlier years, she enjoyed singing in the choir and was an usher. She enjoyed attending church, reading, and helping others. Above all she loved being a housewife and loved her children dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde V. Hairston, Sr.; sons, Clyde June Hairston, and Anthony Hairston; sisters, Nellie May Wooten, Rosalie Johnson-Hairston, and Emma Jean Johnson; brothers, Charlie William Johnson, Howard June Wooten and John Brown Wooten “J.B.”

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dodson; son, Adam T. Hairston; brothers, Curtis Johnson, and Allen Wooten “A.C.”; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
