Doris Ann Newby Motley

Doris Ann Newby Motley, age 65 passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at her residence. Mrs. Motley was born July 27, 1959 in Danville, Virginia to the late Nancy Giles Newby and the late Jesse B. Newby, Sr. She was married to Steve Motley, who survives at the residence.

Doris Ann was a member of Samuel Harris Memorial Baptist Church and was the co-owner of Steve’s Automotive in Chatham. She was a devoted wife, mother, Mema, sister, and friend to everyone she knew. She was a passionate drag racer with the Mid- Atlantic 4 WD Association with multiple trophies.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by two sons, Derek Motley (Michelle), and Dustin Motley (Jessi); grandchildren, Charlotte, Elisha, Levi, and Corinne; her sister, Carolyn Younger (Carroll); numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Max, Lilly, Cocoa, and Chevy.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Jesse “JB” Newby, Jr.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Richard Motley officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Chatham Chapel. At other times, the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
