Doris Ernestine Young

Doris Ernestine Young, age 80 of Danville, Virginia passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, while a resident of Roman Eagle Health and Rehab, Danville, VA. Mrs. Young was born October 27, 1943, in Danville, to the late Ted Coleman and the late Jessie Coleman. She was married to the late John B. Young who predeceased Doris in 2018.

Doris worked for 20 years, prior to her retirement, in the Washington, D.C. Library. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church of Danville.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a sister, Ida Payne (Lynwood) of Danville, two nieces, Vickie Donahue of Danville and Jacqueline Butler of Columbus, OH, as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Young will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the West End Chapel, Norris Funeral Services, Danville, VA, officiated by Reverend Wayne Williamson. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville.

A visitation of friends will occur from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. immediately prior to the funeral service, also at the West End Chapel of Norris Funeral Services.
