Doris Patterson Sharpe

Doris Patterson Sharpe, 87, of Collinsville, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. She was the wife of Walter Garrett Sharpe of the residence. She was born in Henry County to the late George Russell Patterson and Alice Harris Patterson.

She graduated from Drewry Mason High School and attended Virginia Tech and Patrick Henry Community College. She worked at E.I. DuPont and retired from Tultex Corp. She was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church of Collinsville.

Doris is preceded is death by her parents; sisters, Ann Patterson Shropshire of Ridgeway and Jean Patterson Marshall of Spencer; and son-in-law, Henry Hopkins of Martinsville, VA.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hopkins of Martinsville; son, David Scott Dodson (Fonda) of Waxahachie, TX; granddaughter, Chelsea Moore (Matt) of Paducah, KY; great grandson, Welsey Moore; and brothers, David Patterson (Shelby) of Ridgeway, VA and Kenneth Patterson (Debbie) of Ridgeway, VA.

Doris Loved her family dearly. She enjoyed her flower gardens and going to the lake where she maintained a second home. She loved her dogs, Tyler and Maggie; and grand dogs, Smokey, Raylin, Mack, Jaxx, Oakley, Snickers, Elway, Angi, Annie, and Ellie.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
