Dorothy Brumfield Emerson

Dorothy Brumfield Emerson, age 91, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, VA. Mrs. Emerson was born July 30, 1933, to the late Ellen Walker Brumfield and the late Perrow Anderson Brumfield. She was married to the late Henry Douglas Emerson. Mrs. Emerson was a member of Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Emerson is survived by two daughters, Edith Sadler (Russell Swanson), Connie Hazelwood, and a daughter-in-love, Kristy Clay; two sisters, Lois Crane (Raymond) and Vicky Yarbrough (Tim), as well as three grandchildren, Michael Emerson, Kyle Hazelwood (Shilpika), and Emily Hazelwood (Jordan Turner), and one great-grandchild, Varenya Hazelwood.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Emerson was predeceased by five sisters, Alease “Pug” Hunt, Nancy Lee Stowe, Jane Hawker, P.A. Brumfield, and Lucy Haynes.

The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke. Danville, Va. Following the visitation, funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jamie Hancock, also at the Mt. Hermon Chapel of Norris Funeral Services. Interment will follow the funeral service at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.
