Dorothy Lockett Harris Miller

Dorothy Lockett Harris Miller, 90, of Elliston passed away on June 1, 2024 at her residence.

A native of Virginia, Dorothy was the wife to James B. Miller who survives and the daughter of Hubert Earl Harris and Ola Agee Harris, both deceased. Dorothy was a longtime member of Big Spring Baptist Church in Elliston and she attended regularly until recently when her health declined. She was an accomplished self taught seamstress who made many clothes, blankets and crocheted many afghans for loved ones and cherished friends.

In addition to her husband of almost 70 years those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Mark L Miller of Mountain Rest, SC and James B. Miller II of Salem, VA; brother, David E. Harris and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Neil Miller and wife Carla of Salem and children, Nathan, Ryan and Ember Miller, Lois Miller of Roanoke, and Cody Miller and wife Stephanie of New Mexico; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol (Danny) Likens, with several aunts, uncles and cousins that she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to family, friends, doctors and nursing staff for the love and support during this time.
