Dorothy Richards
Dorothy Taylor Richards, 79 of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 5, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1944, in Roanoke Va., daughter of the late Fred and Jeanette Taylor. Dorothy was a member of the Mountain Pass Baptist church in Salem, where she had numerous friends. She was an avid horse lover and enthusiast of saddlebreds, Hackney ponies, and Miniature Horses. She showed and competed on many levels most of her life. She helped and encouraged many to have a love for horses and get them started.
She faithfully loved her husband, Jack, the love of her life for a total of 60 years. Dorothy was a realtor and property manager working alongside her husband for many years. When she wasn’t working or showing horses and ponies, she enjoyed family trips to the beach. Dorothy certainly loved her family and her beloved grandson, Jackson, whom she loved with all her heart.
Family remaining to cherish Dorothy’s memory includes her loving husband, R. Jack Richards, Sr.; son, Rev. Jack Richards, Jr. (Angela); sister, Barbara Taylor Stone (Oliver); grandson, Jackson Richards, III; nephews, Robert Stone (Rachel), Taylor Stone (Amy); great niece and nephew, Ethan and Jenny Stone; special cousin, David Taylor (Deloris).
The family will receive friends at the Mountain Pass Baptist Church, located at 2975 Catawba Valley Dr., Salem, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 5 until 7 pm, and again on Sunday, the 17’th from 2 until 3 pm. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin directly after visitation, starting at 3 pm, at the church. Rev. Jack Richards, Jr. will officiate.
