Douglas Edward Yopp
Douglas E. “Doug” Yopp, 77, of Salem, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1947, in Salem, son of the late Walter and Garnet Collins Yopp.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brothers, Darden, Harold, and Steve, and beloved uncle, Kenneth Collins.
Doug was a member of Seneca Baptist Church, in Elliston, and was retired from Rowe Furniture with 40 plus years of faithful service, where many friendships were made over the years.
Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda Yopp; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Donald “Duck” Waldron; granddaughter, Keri Hodges (Jarrett); brother, Walter “Jr” Yopp and wife, Teresa; sisters, Martha Cole, Carol Hodges (Mike), Phyllis Hodges (Roger), and Donna McDaniel (Lewis); sisters-in-law, Martha Obenchain, Debbie Yopp, and Carolyn Yopp; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special pets, “Kitty Boy Buster” and Max; and special friend, Tom Huff.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
Funeral services to honor Doug’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. John Collins will officiate.
