Douglas Mcarthur Campbell

July 28, 1942 - May 21, 2026

Douglas McArthur “Jonah” Campbell, Sr., 83, of Rustburg, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Born in Nelson County on July 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Aubrey Campbell and Georgie Mays Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Campbell, Cordell Campbell, and Kinkle Campbell and four sisters, Odessa Mays, June Campbell, Louise Thomas, Nancy Campbell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Stump Campbell; six children, Tim Campbell, Douglas Allen Campbell and wife Elizabeth, Sharon Burns and husband Donald, Douglas M. Campbell, Jr., Dawn Ethridge and Donna Pimm; one brother, Delwoody Campbell; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jonah retired from Flowers Baking Company following many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan whose favorite drivers included Dale Earnhardt, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Elliott. He also enjoyed football and faithfully cheered for the Washington Redskins, as well as any team playing against the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, his faith and church family were an important part of his life. He was a devoted member of Rock Pike Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
