E. Wilson Barbour

E. Wilson Barbour, 92, of Martinsville, Va., passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. He was born in the Sandy Level community of Pittsylvania County June 2, 1930 to Quitman “Tom” Barbour and Ida Birdie Barbour.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Aylene “Doots” Towler, Doris Finney, and Lois Barbour; brothers, Clayton Barbour, Aylor Lipscomb, Morris “Whitey” Barbour, Marvin Barbour.

Mr. Barbour’s loving wife of 70 years, Shirley F. Barbour, loved every minute she spent with him and considers him to be the best husband she could have ever had. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughters, Sharon Meeks of Staunton and Pam Harrison of Collinsville; grandchildren, Darron Meeks, Mandy (Mathew) Robinson, Brad Harrison and Amber (Nicholas) Fuller; 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. Barbour proudly served in the USMC during the Korean War and worked as a security officer for the Martinsville City Prison Farm for 30 years.

He was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2022 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A private interment at Roselawn Burial Park will follow.

The family is very appreciative of all the care and attention Carilion Hospice employees Susan, Stephanie, Rick, Christina, Sabrina and Jessie provided.
