Earl Edwin Bowling

Earl Edwin Bowling, 84, passed away on August 19, 2023. He was born in Pikeville, KY on February 15, 1939, to the late Lesta Rebecca Yates Bowling and the late Lon Bowling. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Everlena Doss Bowling.

Earl was a faithful member of County Line Christian Church and his favorite saying was “patience is a virtue”. He worked thirty-six years for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a yard master prior to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son; Edwin Scott Bowling of Danville, VA., brothers; Cecil Burns Bowling, Milton McKinley Bowling (Bonnie), sister; Doris Brenda Bowling Taylor (Clinton), sister in-law; Merle Bowling, special nephew; Ricky McKinley Bowling, grandchildren; Jessica Jones, Megan Bowling, mother of his grandchildren; Sue Reynolds Bowling and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, and loving brother in-law and sister in-law; J.M. Doss and Shirley Doss.

In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by five brothers: Jonah Elwyon Bowling, Clarence Victor Bowling, Charles Roland Bowling, Roy Grady Bowling and Reed Bowling.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 2:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
