Earl R. Scearce

Earl R. Scearce, age 90 of Danville, VA passed away Thursday, August 6, 2023, at SOVAH Health, Danville. Mr. Scearce was born March 6, 1933, in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Floyd Tinsley Scearce and the late Nannie Shumate Scearce. He was married to Elizabeth Williams Scearce, who predeceased him.

He attended The Tabernacle in Danville and worked as a welder for Lolliard Tobacco Factory for many years. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his daughters, Denna S. Hughes and Kim Elizabeth Scearce, both of Danville; grandson, Barney L. Hughes, III and great-grandchildren, Hunger Lee Hughes and Aubrey Ryder Hughes.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Scearce was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Burial Park, Danville with Pastor Joey Bray officiating.
