Eddie Lee Purdy

Eddie Lee Purdy, 70, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Sovah Health – Martinsville. He was born on April 7, 1954, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Edward Lemuel Purdy and Louise Donavant Purdy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas G. Purdy; son, Jimmy Lee Adams, Jr; and brother-in-law, Don Stanley.

Eddie worked in the furniture industry until his retirement. He attended The People’s Church of the Living God. In his spare time, Eddie found fulfillment tending to his yard, nurturing gardens, tinkering around with different projects, and sharing moments with cherished family and friends. Known for his compassionate nature, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Eddie leaves behind the following legacy, his wife of 19 years, Darleen K. Purdy; daughters, Jessica L. Shelton, Amber N. Eanes (Joshua), and Tabitha Watkins (Anthony); three grandchildren, Jaylee C. Shelton, Rhett Eanes, Jaedyn Shelton; sisters, JoAnn Lawson (Bobby), and Deborah Stanley; brother, Donald Purdy, and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. A burial will immediately follow at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church, in Bassett, Virginia.
