Edgar Hickman
On Wednesday July 26, 2023 the Lord decided it was time for Edgar Allen Hickman to come Home after 105 years.
Allen was born on St. Patrick's Day 1918 to Claire Baker Hickman and Edward Allen Hickman. His mother died from the Spanish flu, so his father was left with 4 older sisters and Allen. His aunt and uncle Harry and Pearl Hickman adopted him and helped with the 4 sisters. Allen graduated from Clifton Forge High School and obtained a machinist apprenticeship with the C&O railroad where he worked until he retired in 1984. Allen was a talented artist, and his works are shared with many people in Virginia and across the USA.
Besides his birth mother and father and his adopted mother and father, Allen was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Charlotte Gwilliams Hickman, his 4 sisters (Louise Roadcap, Garnet Bryan, Ruth Hatcher, and Doris Lewis), son Lloyd Edward Hickman, and grandson Christopher Allen Hickman.
Surviving are his son David and Gayle Hickman and granddaughter Courtney and husband Tyler Leaman. Daughter Bonnie and husband Jim Yopp and grandson Jason and wife Jessica Yopp and great-grandsons Isaac and Reed Yopp.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 11:00 am from Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, VA. The funeral will be conducted by his favorite fire truck driver Chris Fisher.
