Edith Peters

October 3, 1940 - March 30, 2024

Edith Fink Peters entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Roanoke, Virginia October 3, 1940, she was married to her sweetheart and best friend, Don for 37 years. She retired from an extensive career at Elizabeth Arden and was a Master Sergeant upon her retirement from the US Army Reserves, after 25 years of dedicated and decorated service.

Edith was quiet at times, but was quite witty, delivering a timely quip with a twinkle in her eye. She was a beloved mother, granny, and great-grandmother. Late in life, she made her most important decision – to surrender to the Lord Jesus as her King and Savior. This gave her great hope as she accepted His forgiveness and looked forward to His eternal presence.

Edith was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Fink; and her beloved daughter, Ginger Harger.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Don Peters; stepchildren, Dawn Ward (Chuck) and Todd Peters, daughter-in-in law, Cheryl Peters; grandchildren, Chris Ward (Heather), Matt Ward (Tiffany), and Draven Harger, great-grandchildren James and Jonathan Ward, siblings Bill Fink (Diane), Carolyn Richards (Mike), Jeannie Reed, and Kackie Ostendorf.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice, Carrington Place, and Edith’s many compassionate healthcare providers for their loving care. They are ever grateful to her church family, Peaks Church in Bedford, Va for their innumerable expressions of love and service to Edith and the family.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with a memorial service beginning promptly at 2 p.m., with Rev. Danny Holdren and Rev. Chuck Ward officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Edith requested memorial gifts be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: www.jdrf.org/donate
