Edward A. Wingfield

Edward Arthur Wingfield, 88, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Wingfield; his beloved wife, Shirley Louise Wingfield; and his brothers, William “Bill” Wingfield (Darlene), James Wingfield (Linda), and Robert Wingfield, Jr.

Ed was a longtime and devoted member of Barnhart Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. His faith and commitment to his church were an important part of his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Wingfield (Melissa) and Mike Wingfield (Barbie); his special daughter, Denise Charters (Chris); his grandchildren, Tristain, Katy, Alexis, Justin, and Corey; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Wingfield and June Ritter; brothers-in-law, Clayton Flowers (Kim), and Roger Flowers (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Jeters Chapel Cemetery.
