Edward Lee Mise
Edward Lee Mise, 78, of Danville, VA, passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1946, in Danville, VA. He dedicated his life to education, coaching, and his beloved family. He was a believer in the Baptist faith.
Eddie was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Esther Williams Mise, as well as his parents, Shufford Edward Mise and Frances Jackson Mise. He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Harper, son-in-law, Scott Harper, and his cherished granddaughter, Reagan Harper, who was loved beyond measure.
A lifelong educator, Eddie served as a physical education teacher and principal for Danville Public Schools, touching the lives of countless students. His passion for sports extended beyond the classroom, as he spent many years coaching, refereeing, and mentoring young athletes. He was a proud graduate of Milligan College, where he played baseball, and later earned his master’s degree from Lynchburg College.
Eddie’s legacy is one of dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to shaping young minds. Some of his favorite pastimes were rooting for Notre Dame and spending time with his friends and pets. His unconditional love for his family will be remembered always.
His daughter wishes to express sincere gratitude to Jo Ann and M.H. Herndon and Jan Sutherland for their constant love and support for the Mise Family.
Funeral services will be held at Norris Funeral Home, Mount Hermon Branch on Tuesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation prior to the service at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Shermont Baptist Church Building Fund.
