Obituario de Edwin Báez Roman

Edwin Baez Román nació Junio 12, 1958 en Castañer Lares Puerto Rico a Herminia, Román medina y Jorge Baez Irizarry. Creció en el barrio Guilarte de Adjuntas Puerto Rico culminando sus estudios en 11 grado. A Edwin le gustaba treparse en los palos para coger naranjas, correr bicicletas y jugar mucho con su amigos del vecindario. El era bien juguetón y le gustaba haver bromas! A temprana edad comenzó a tocar la guitarra con su hermano mayor, Adrián, en las fiestas, y aveces iba con sus padres y tocaba con ellos en las fiestas promesas en Puerto Rico.

En 1975 se mudó a Massachusetts donde trabajó en un hospital como ayudante de cocinero y en una fábrica de cuchillos. En 1980 se mudó de nuevo a Puerto Rico y allí conoció a su querida esposa, Luz, en una panadería en Ajuntas, mientras peleaban por una barquilla de helado. Sin embargo el amor era más fuerte y iniciaron su relación juntos y poco después formaron un hogar.

En 1982 nació su primer hijo Billy luego Luz (Tannia), Edwin Jr, Esther (Tata) y la menor Ruth (Ruty) en 1988. En 1989 con su familia se mudaron a Allentown Pennsylvania. Dónde estaba su hermana Lucy. En octubre de 1997 regresó a Puerto Rico y en el 1998 regresó de nuevo a Pensilvania después del huracán George.

En 2012 se mudó a Martinsville, Virginia con su esposa. Fue bien recibido por la iglesia de Martinsville Spanish. Y ahí permaneció hasta sus últimos días.

En el 20 de enero de 1999 Edwin se bautizó en la iglesia Adventista hispana de Lehigh Valley junto a su esposa. Aunque por un tiempo estuvo afuera, ayudaba a las diferentes departamentos como el Food Bank y asistía en actividades de los conquistadores.

Fue en Virginia donde Edwin entregó su vida por completo a Jesús por profesión de fe y sirvió como diácono, director de diáconos, predicador y en otras funciones que se necesitaba en la iglesia.

En su vida edwin tuvo varios ocupaciones y pasiones. Tenía una pasión por los carros. Tuvo muchos carros pero su preferido fue un Lincoln que tenía. Edwin también era mecánico y se pasaba en el vecindario, hablando con los vecinos y ayudándole a arreglar sus carros. Él era un hombre de negocios, aunque no terminó la secundaria, abrió una tienda para el vecindario y fue un éxito. También tuvo un negocio de grúa y se pasaba ayudando a la comunidad en varios aspectos. Tenía un amor para la música manifestada cuando tocaba la guitarra y cantaba. Le encantaba la cocina. Fue cocinero en un restaurante por un tiempo. Trabajó en AutoZone, como seguridad en DHL y también en Brickman como jardinero profesional. También le gustaban los carros de carreras pero más los carros antiguos. También las trocas. Edwin era un hombre muy alegre contando chistes y historias de su niñez y juventud. Le encantaba las películas de oeste, la lucha libre, las novelas, Mariana de la noche, siendo su favorita.

Edwin era hombre muy alegre. apoyador y servicial . Edwin, atesoraba su familia, sus hijos y le gustaba estar ahí para sus logros. En sus últimas horas Edwin estaba seguro de que estaba con y estaba entregado a Dios.

él deja para seguir viviendo su recuerdo a su esposa de 44 años Luz Baez, sus hijos Billy, Tannia, Edwin, Esther, Ruth y Annette. A sus nietos Manuel, Gabriel, Edwin, Boaz, Selena, Eliana, Cataleya, Lucas , Belenis, Javier, Eliel, Kaydien, Adien, Currency, Cole, y Ezequiel. A su hermano Adrián. A su yernos/as, Marcos (Luz), Starlyn ( Esther) Mark (Ruth) Lily (Billy) Jocelyn (Edwin Jr) y muchos sobrinos, hijos postizos y amigos cercanos. Precedido por su Madre Herminia, su Padre Jorge, su hermanas Felicita y Lucila, su nieta Ayila y yerno Courtney.

Su memoria vivirá en nuestros corazones y en el de todos los que lo conocieron.

Edwin Baez Román Obituary

Edwin Baez Román was born on June 12, 1958, in Castañer, Lares, Puerto Rico, to Herminia Román Medina and Jorge Baez Irizarry. He grew up in the Guilarte neighborhood of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, completing his studies up to the 11th grade. Edwin loved climbing trees to pick oranges, riding bicycles, and playing with his neighborhood friends. He was playful and loved to joke around!

At a young age, he began playing the guitar alongside his older brother, Adrián, at parties. Sometimes, he would also accompany his parents, playing at fiestas de promesas in Puerto Rico.

In 1975, he moved to Massachusetts, where he worked at a hospital as a kitchen assistant and at a knife factory. In 1980, he returned to Puerto Rico, where he met his beloved wife, Luz, in a bakery in Adjuntas while arguing over an ice cream cone. However, love prevailed, and they began their journey together, soon building a home.

In 1982, they welcomed their first child, Billy, followed by Luz (Tannia), Edwin Jr., Esther (Tata), and their youngest, Ruth (Ruty), in 1988. In 1989, Edwin and his family moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania, where his sister Lucy lived. In October 1997, he returned to Puerto Rico, but after Hurricane Georges in 1998, he moved back to Pennsylvania.

In 2012, he and his wife relocated to Martinsville, Virginia, where they were warmly welcomed by the Martinsville Spanish Church, which remained their spiritual home until his final days.

On January 20, 1999, Edwin was baptized in the Lehigh Valley Hispanic Adventist Church alongside his wife. Although he stepped away for a time, he remained active, helping in various departments such as the Food Bank and assisting with Conquistadores activities.

It was in Virginia that Edwin fully dedicated his life to Jesus through a profession of faith. He served as a deacon, head deacon, preacher, and in various other church roles where he was needed.

Throughout his life, Edwin held many occupations and had numerous passions. He loved cars—owning many, but his favorite was a Lincoln. He was also a mechanic, often found in the neighborhood chatting with neighbors and helping them fix their cars. Though he never completed high school, he was a businessman at heart. He successfully opened a neighborhood store and later ran a towing business, always eager to help his community.

Music was another love of his, evident in the way he played the guitar and sang. He had a passion for cooking, working as a restaurant chef for a time. Edwin also worked at AutoZone, as a security guard for DHL, and as a professional landscaper at Brickman. He enjoyed race cars, but his greatest love was classic cars and trucks.

Edwin was a joyful man, always telling jokes and sharing stories from his childhood and youth. He loved Western movies, wrestling, and telenovelas, with Mariana de la Noche being his favorite.

Edwin was loving, supportive, and a man of service. He deeply cherished his family and took great pride in being there for their achievements. In his final hours, Edwin was at peace, fully surrendered to God.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Luz Baez; his children Billy, Tannia, Edwin, Esther, Ruth, and Annette; and his grandchildren Manuel, Gabriel, Edwin, Boaz, Selena, Eliana, Cataleya, Lucas, Belenis, Javier, Eliel, Kaydien, Adien, Currency, Cole, and Ezequiel. He is also survived by his brother Adrián; his sons- and daughters-in-law Marcos (Luz), Starlyn (Esther), Mark (Ruth), Lily (Billy), and Jocelyn (Edwin Jr); as well as many nieces, nephews, honorary children, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Herminia; his father, Jorge; his sisters, Felicita and Lucila; his granddaughter, Ayila; and his son-in-law, Courtney.

May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
