Elaine Hensley

October 21, 1939 - May 15, 2025

Elaine Stephanie Godlewski Hensley, 85, of Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2025. She was born on October 21, 1939, in New York, to the late Stanley Godlewski and Stephania Godlewski.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dick Godlewski and Paul Godlewski; and leaves behind a family she deeply loved and cherished.

She is survived by her children, James C. Hensley III, Timothy B. Hensley, Michael S. Hensley and wife Denice, Paula M. Miller and husband Mark, and Bryon K. Hensley. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Oberlin; her niece, Stephanie Roscoe; her nephews, Jason Godlewski and Wesley Oberlin; nieces Kristin Godlewski and Wendy Leszczewski; and her grandchildren, Casey Talley, Erin Hensley, Peggy Sutphin, Andrew Miller, and Porter Miller.

Elaine was a resilient and strong woman, grounded in her Christian faith and unwavering love for her family. Her home, affectionately known as "The Do Drop In," was always open to friends and family. It was a place of warmth, welcome, and laughter.

She was known for her incredible dedication to any task she undertook, including her time with Lewis Gale's shipping and receiving department, where she earned an impressive 97% efficiency rating.

Above all, Elaine was ready to meet Jesus. Her faith was steadfast, and she encouraged others to continue “passing the baton of hope and faith” to everyone they met.

Elaine’s legacy of strength, devotion, and faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
