Elizabeth Ann Gibson Bailey

Elizabeth Ann Gibson Bailey, 91, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024.  She was born on June 16, 1932 in Crumpler, West Virginia to George and Maude Gibson.  

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, William Douglas (Bill) Bailey and her two children, Mike Bailey (Denise) and Jennie Sawyer (Bobby) and five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

For many years Ann owned and operated Starmount Beauty Shoppe on Peters Creek Road where she served and enjoyed the friendship of employees and customers.  She was a faithful member of Green Ridge Presbyterian Church and Northminster Presbyterian Church after they merged.  There she worshipped her Lord and worked diligently in Green Ridge's kitchen alongside many dear friends.

It is with grateful hearts that Ann's family wishes to acknowledge the great care extended to our wife and mother by the staff and volunteers at Carilion Hospice.  Their concern and assistance gave Ann and our family many days of love and laughter without pain.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church or a church of the donor's choice.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pam Claterbaugh.  Entombment will be private.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  540 366 0707
