Libby was united in marriage for 16 years to the late Horace Nathaniel Hairston. They made their home, which Libby loved, on Brass Shop Road, in Ridgeway and she was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church.
Libby received her primary and secondary education in the Henry County School System. She was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School, class of 1961.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie A. Murrill of Brooklyn, New York, a sister, Stephanie S. Hairston (Kermit) of Stone Mountain, Georgia, a stepson, Anthony O. Philpott of High Point, North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Irma Brimmer (Antonio) of Martinsville, sisters-in-law, Lula Jones (Lawrence) of Martinsville, and Rubena Dillard of Concord, North Carolina, ten nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Libby had two pleasures in life, and she enjoyed them immensely. She looked forward to the television programs of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, The Price is Right, Let’s Made a Deal, and Tyler Perry’s Madea movies. In addition, she looked forward to the annual races at the Martinsville Speedway. She and Horace parked cars on their property during the races. She continued the tradition after his death.
