Mrs. Martha Ann Sorbara Hosey, age 72, of Covington, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Brian Center Nursing Care, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Larry Ellis Hosey, Sr.
Mrs. Hosey was born November 22, 1951 in Covington, the daughter of the late Raffaele C. Sorbara and Mary Liptrap Sorbara Taylor. A lifetime resident of this community, Martha was employed as a clerk at the Durant Road Exxon Gas Station before her retirement. She enjoyed working in her garden and loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hosey is survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie McCummings and Stephen Hosey; her great grandchildren, Alaric McCummings, Sophie Paige Hosey and Jaxon Hosey; three brothers, Ralph Sorbara of North Carolina, George Sorbara and Donald Sorbara of Covington; her sisters, Matilda Walker of Lebanon OH and Bertha Parker of Lynchburg; a number of nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Isabella Sparks.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hosey was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Hosey and Gordon Ralph Hosey as well as a sister, Deborah Irvin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Star Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30P.M. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Bertha Hosey, 2028 S. Arden Avenue, Covington.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Hosey, Willie Campbell, Ronnie McCummings, Jimmie Craft, Jr and Shane Wolfe.
Alternate pallbearers will be Jason Craft and Ethan Campbell.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1700 MacCorkle Avenue SE 3rd Floor, Charleston WV 25314.
