Ellen Nadine Simmons Grant

January 26, 1931 - March 4, 2024

Ellen Nadine Simmons Grant, known affectionately as “Deanie” passed away on March 4, 2024. She was 93 years old. Nadine was born and raised in Roanoke. She attended Jefferson High School where she met her husband of 46 years Keddy Grant. After her youngest child started school Nadine went to work part time at Northside High School as a beloved cafeteria lady.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, William Kedrick Grant; son, Michael Grant; mother, Julia Simmons; sister, Frances Sutton; daughters-in-law, Cindy Grant and Debbie Grant; and her long time friend and cohort, Corkie Brown.

Nadine is survived by her children, David Grant, Kyle Grant and wife Melissa, daughter, Karen Grant and husband Jessie Blessard; grandchildren, Dylan Grant, April Baker and husband Matt, Michelle Pruett and husband T.C., Jennifer Grant, Owen and Sam Blessard; great grandchildren, Ian and Axton Grant, Dakota Wilson, Robert Baker, Brandy Bryant, Jeremy Grant, and Conner and Mike Pruett; her cherished and very spoiled cat, Timmy; as well as many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews; and so many incredible friends that she considered family.

Nadine loved and treated everyone with kindness and respect. She will be truly missed!

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Pastor Barry Witt officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.

We would like to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the great care provided to our mom. Also thank you to her friends from Friendship Home Health Deleva and Tonya.
