Elnora Mae Tate

Elnora Tate, 93, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mable Poston; her beloved husband, Frank Tate; her daughter, Donna Dangerfield; three daughters-in-law; and her son-in-law, Earl Blankenship.

Elnora was known for her kind heart, strong faith, and servant's spirit. She found great joy in sewing with her church sewing group, where she shared her remarkable talent by creating beautiful quilts and lap robes for nursing home residents and veterans. After moving to Friendship Manor, she embraced an active social life, especially enjoying many lively rounds of bingo with friends.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her brother, Claude Poston (Muriel) of Front Royal, Virginia; her sister, Barbara Royston (Larry) of Stephens City, Virginia; her children, Peggy Blankenship of Lynchburg, Virginia, Stanley Tate of Lynchburg, Virginia, Sandra Mullins of Brookneal, Virginia, and Robert Tate (Carol) of Hardy, Virginia; her grandchildren, Jennifer Blackstock (Jason) of Georgetown, South Carolina, Crissy Boling (Joe) of King George, Virginia, Jason Tate of Roanoke, Virginia, Cyndi Richards of Jacksonville, Florida, Kristi Casey, Roger Mullins of Roanoke, Virginia, Catherine Dyson and Lyntoria Dyson, both of Brookneal, Virginia, Cornelle Dyson of Pomfret, Maryland, Chris Dangerfield of Roanoke, Virginia, Jeffrey Lee of Richmond, Virginia, KC Tate of Richmond, Virginia, Lori Carroll of Bedford, Virginia, Robert Persinger of Salem, Virginia, and Kaitlyn Glass of Roanoke, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at Lotz Funeral Home Roanoke, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Gardner officiating.

Elnora's legacy of faith, generosity, and love for her family and community will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
