Elvin Perry McMillian
Mr. Elvin Perry McMillian, age 77 of Cana, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. McMillian was born on May 12, 1947, in Carroll County to the late Joel Dexter and Inez Edwards McMillian. Elvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. McMillian was known for his musical talent and his ability to play a variety of instruments with several bands around the area. Additionally, Elvin was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Sue Hawks McMillian, two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin McMillian Flynn and Anthony, Rebecca McMillian; four grandchildren, Bryson Joel Flynn, Alyssa Faye Hawks and Jonathan, Chasati Jones and Bryan, Jade Vrable and Patrick; four great grandchildren, Coby, Kyleigh, Adalle, Ollie; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Louzette McMillian Hall, Frankie McMillian Flippin and Roy, Frances McMillian Dellenback and George, Polly McMillian Hawks; and a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin McMillian and Louella; his special friends with Sugar Loaf Mountain Band, as well as many other local band members. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillian was preceded in death by two infant twin girls, Sarah and Jeanette McMillian; special aunt, Essie McMillian Mayes; and three brothers-in-law, Morgan Combs, Gary Hall; and John Henry Hawks. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church with Reverend David Tucker and Brother Tom Delph officiating. Interment will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery in Cana, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, at White Plains Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
