Erma Mae Hairston

Erma Mae Hairston, 88, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was born September 20, 1935, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Jessie Ben Hairston, Sr. and Mary Wade Hairston.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carnell Hairston; daughter, Eyvonne Hairston; sons, Don Conell Hairston, and James Hairston; sister, Beatrice Waller; brothers, Odell Hairston, Jesse B. Hairston, Jr., Ernest Hairston, and Alexander Hairston.Erma was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries and attended East Martinsville Schools. She was dedicated to her work and worked in the factory setting for more than ten years. Erma loved her dog, Mickey.She is survived by daughters, Freda Eggleston and Velma Hairston; sons, Larry Hairston, Wilford Hairston, and Timothy Hairston; sisters, Dorthy Waller and Ann Hopkins.There will be a visitation on Sunday, May 12, 2024, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
