Erma White Underwood

ERMA WHITE UNDERWOOD, 91, of Dublin, VA, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2024 at Highland Ridge Rehab Center. Mrs. Underwood was born on October 14, 1932 in Pulaski County, VA, and was the daughter of the late Harrison W. & Minnie Thompson White.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Hensel Lee Underwood, and by four brothers, David H. White, Kellas M. White, James C. White, Hubert W. White; and six sisters, Gladys Stevens, Edith Kitts, Lucille Warner, Violet Woodyard, Glenna Fanning, Reba Myers.

Mrs. Underwood was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church and was regularly active in many church activities. Erma also was a volunteer as a Heart Fund Captain during fund drives. She was well known for beautiful wedding cakes and numerous cakes for special occasions. Erma worked at FLOW Laboratories in Dublin and later retired from the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was a graduate of New River Community College.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Angelia Underwood, Pulaski, VA, and Mark and Shelia Underwood, Centreville, VA; two grandchildren, Brittany Austin and Branden Underwood; three step-grandchildren, Lindsay Fedok, Lauren Bullen and Chip Huff; five great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

The Family wishes to thank the nurses and staff from Highland Ridge Rehab Center and the care and support of the family by Wythe Hospice of SWVA.

Reverend Don Shelor will conduct the funeral service at Dublin Methodist Church on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. Family will see visitors from 1pm until the service at 2pm.  Burial will take place at the Mausoleum, Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Mrs. Underwood’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, http://act.alz.org/sit/Donation.
