Eugene Calvin Tutwiler, III
Eugene Calvin Tutwiler III, “Gene”, 81, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Calvin Tutwiler, Jr., mother, Marguerite Childress Tutwiler, and sister, Patricia Tutwiler Clare.
He is survived by his loving children, Calvin Tutwiler (Ann), Julie Tutwiler Garrett (Curtis), Anne Tutwiler (Mike); former wife, Myralynn Birdsong Tutwiler; and granddaughters; Mason Garrett, Savanneh Salmon, Campbell Garrett, Sydney Salmon, Mary Tutwiler, and Julianne Tutwiler.
He was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, February 26th, 1942, and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia. He earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1966, and a Juris Doctor Degree in 1978. He loved cheering for the University of Georgia Bulldogs!
Gene was a scholar and a gentleman. As a veterinarian and a lawyer, he loved helping animals and people all his life. As a tennis and racquetball enthusiast, he played to win. Determined yet compassionate, he lived life to the fullest. He loved his family. He taught his children to be strong, respectful, and kind. He especially loved his six grand-girls: Mason, Savanneh, Campbell, Sydney, Mary, and Julianne.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox with a visitation to follow.
