Eugene Graham White III passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on May 28th, 1962, to Eugene Graham White Jr. and Merle Helm White. Graham graduated as valedictorian of Bassett High School in 1980. He was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech; he spent his time as a Campus Crusader and made many friends. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1984. Graham earned his Bank Management Degree in 1989. He worked as a Bank Manager and Commercial Lender at Dominion Bank, becoming an Assistant Vice President. In 1992, Graham began a 27-year tenure at Stanley Furniture Company as Director of Credit & Risk Administration. Graham moved to Hooker Furnishing Corporation as Director of Credit in June 2019, where he worked until his passing. Graham met the love of his life in 1987, Liza Meador White, when she came to open a new checking account at his bank. They got engaged at Mill Mountain Star, on July 7th, 1988, and wed on October 1st, 1988. Their first son, Zachary Eugene White, was born March 14th, 1991. Their second son, Bennett Graham White, was born January 11th, 1996. The boys kept them busy between sports, band, and church activities for many years. Graham was a devoted husband, son, father, brother, and friend.Graham was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Graham White Jr., and his brother-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Meador. He is survived by his mother, Merle White; his wife, Liza White; his sons and their fiancés, Zachary White and Kristi Meadows, and Bennett White and Alex Groen; his sisters and their spouses, Nancy and Fonnie Harlan, and Cathy and Frank Couch; his sisters-in-law and their spouses, Sue and Jim Haley, and Julie Meador; his brother-in-law and spouse, Sandy and Tina Meador; nieces and nephews, Rachel and Aaron Brown, David and Briana Haley, Kelly and Kyle Wright, Mary Couch and Jack Linehan, Amy and Phillip Blancarte, Kevin and Cori Couch, and Scott and Betsy Harlan; his great-nephews, Sam Brown, Bear Blancarte, and Bradley Harlan; his great-niece, Maeve Brown; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his grand-dogs Citra, Luna, and Simcoe.Services will be held at Chatham Heights Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA on Saturday, July 29, 2023. A visitation will be at 11am with a service to follow. The family will be receiving visitors at other times at their home in Oak Ridge, NC.
