Evelyn Elizabeth Mabe

Evelyn Elizabeth Viars Mabe, 81, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2024, at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home. She was born November 11, 1942, in Christiansburg, Va., to the late Emmett Viars and Versy Newby Viars. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Willard; three sisters, Mae Ferguson, Nancy Willard, Sibyl Brown; three brothers, Bill Viars, James Viars, and Leroy Viars.

Evelyn enjoyed sewing quilts which as often sold before being completed and shipped all over North America. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which was her pride and joy. She retired from Stanley Furniture after twenty-five years of service. She also was a long-time part-time worker of Hardees for over thirty years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bobby L. Mabe; daughter, Penny Boylan; grandchildren, Denise Hurd, and Tiffany Willard; four great grandchildren, Blake Hence, Damian Hurd; Kaileigh Turner and Caydence Turner; sister, Bonnie Willard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alvin “Joe” Nunley, officiating. Burial will follow in the Henry Memorial Park.
