Fae Maxine Hance

Fae Maxine Hance, 97, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on October 24, 2026. She had been a resident of Richfield in Salem for 35 years. Fae was born on November 28, 1928, in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Joseph Lester Holcomb and Hessie Carper Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and two brothers. She was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, and she took great pleasure in following their seasons and cheering them on. She is survived by her children: Shirley Varner (Richard), Gary Bragg (Lou Ann), Patricia Reedy (Don, deceased), and Treissa Kruse (Andrew, deceased); her sister, Mary Blackman; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. The family extends special thanks to Stephen Varner for always going above and beyond to care for Fae. All services will be held privately.
