Floyd Bayne
Mr. Floyd Monroe Bayne, Jr. , age 85, of Covington, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor, VA. He was the husband of the late Shelby Dickson Bayne.
Mr. Bayne was born June 19. 1938 in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Floyd Monroe Bayne, Sr. and Rena Hall Bayne. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Floyd worked in the carbon department of Westvaco where he retired after thirty-seven years of service. In his spare time, he loved to listen to his sons-in-law play bluegrass music. In his younger years, he was very interested in CB radios and went by the handle, "Papa Bear." Floyd also loved to play horseshoes and later was a champion corn hole player at family picnics.
Mr. Bayne is survived by two sons, Steve Bayne of Bedford and James Bayne of Buena Vista; three daughters, Lisa Seal and husband, Dwayne of Covington, Donna Crawford and husband, Wayne of Covington and Stephanie Clark of Covington; four grandchildren, Steven Bayne, Tara Bradley, Nicholas Entsminger and Cheyenne Smith; and six great grandchildren, Camden Crouse, Caleb Crouse, Cason Crouse, Isaac Walton, Everleigh Walton and Harper Smith.
In addition to his wife, Shelby Dickson Bayne, Mr. Bayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Bayne; a granddaughter, Ashley Bayne; a brother, Raymond Bayne; and a sister, Wanda Bayne.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 20, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Seal, Wayne Crawford, Stevie Bayne, Doug Seal, Cameron Smith and Allen Mann.
