Floyd William Giles

Floyd William Giles, 84, of Axton, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Martinsville Health & Rehab. He was born January 28, 1939, in Axton, to the late Booker T. Giles and Elizabeth Conrad Giles.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Martin Giles; a son, Larone Smith; daughter, Edna V. Martin; sister, Gertrude Giles; and brothers, Booker S., Charles E., Lee Andrew, James, Lewis R. Giles, and Kenny Meadows.He had been employed at Tultex for 20 plus years, and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.Mr. Giles is survived by his daughters, Deborah D. Finney (Issac “Von”), Tonya R. Giles, and Mellissia Giles Hunt (Alvin); son, Jerome Smalls; sister, Doretha Jamison; brothers, Sherman Giles (Mary), Alonzo Giles; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.The funeral will be Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Bishop Reginald Davis officiating. Pastor Von Finney will serve as eulogist. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
