Frances Brewer Haymore

Frances Brewer Matherly Haymore, 88 of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at her home.

She was born in Radford on May 26, 1936, daughter of the late Charlie P. & Callie B. Brewer.

Frances was a member of Living Word Baptist Church and had retired from Nationwide Insurance Company. She had also worked for Generations Solutions for several years. In her spare time the loved to crochet blankets for newborn babies and travel but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Matherly, Jr.; two sons Timothy D. Matherly and Joey D. Matherly as well as her six siblings, Gertrude Atkinson, Mildred Hodges, Virginia Trusler, Edith Meadows, Payton Brewer and Henry Brewer.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca M. Lewis; three grandchildren, Mary Frances Lewis, Ray Carlin Lewis, Jr., and Brandon Dean Lewis as well as four great grandchildren, Nevaeh Angel Lewis, Xavier Wyatt Lewis, Jaden Carter Lewis, and Hailie Marie Lewis.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025 in the Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell and Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
