Frances Elizabeth Ferguson Plybon

August 8, 1927 - March 13, 2024

Frances Elizabeth Ferguson Plybon, age 96, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by her children. She joins her husband, Silas of 75 years in a joyful reunion with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Frances was born on August 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Abie Metaw Ferguson and Belva Mae Cooper Ferguson of Union Hall, VA. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Abie, Douglas, and Elwood Ferguson and by three sisters, Blanche Onks, Carrie Powell, and Garnett Robertson.

Frances was an active and faithful member of Franklin Heights Church for 60 years. After her marriage to Silas, she worked as a secretary at Bald Knob Furniture Company in Rocky Mount. She also served as the Assistant Registrar for Franklin County for 20 years. Her primary role was as wife to Silas and mother to the five Plybon children. Throughout her life Frances was an avid gardener and after retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to 23 countries as well as many other states in the U.S.

Surviving are three daughters, Frieda Plybon Penrod (Wayne), Dreama Plybon Love (Daniel—deceased), and Sylvia Plybon Pagans (Mike); two sons, Silas James (S.J.) Plybon (Beth) and Darwin Plybon (Terry); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and another great-grandson expected in April 2024; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services for Frances will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Franklin Heights Church at 11 a.m. with family and friends’ visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. Stan Parris and Rev. J. Larry Holland will officiate followed by a private family graveside service at Franklin Memorial Park.

The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude to caregiver, Leigh Prom, who assisted them by providing gracious, capable, and loving care for both Silas and Frances enabling them to live out their lives in the home they built together over 60 years ago. Carilion Clinic Hospice, especially the services of Helen Wilcox, RN, were also greatly appreciated.

The family is grateful for many neighbors, church members, and other friends who have supported them throughout the years, and above all, thankful to Jesus Christ for saving grace and a Christian family heritage of faith.
