Frances Etta Wilkinson

November 3, 1928 - February 18, 2025

Frances Etta Wilkinson, 96, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Born on November 3, 1928 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late E. Clyde Wilkinson and Evelyn J. Wilkinson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Clyde H. Wilkinson and sister-in-law, Jane Wilkinson.

Frances loved knitting sweaters for underprivileged children and was even featured on the front page of the News and Advance in 2024 spotlighting her story and generosity. Over the last decade, she had completed around 1,000 sweaters for children around the world. She was also a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a devoted member and lay minister of Fort Hill United Methodist Church. She was an avid animal lover but always had a special place in her heart for cats.

She is survived by two nieces, Kerry Wilkinson and Kym Kulis (Tom); great nephews, Gray Wilkinson (Kayla) and Jim Kulis (Alex); and great-great nephew, Conrad Kulis.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Marc Brown and Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Spring Hill Cemetery.
