Frances M. McAlexander

Frances M. McAlexander, 82, of Summerfield, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born on August 17, 1941, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Harry O. Mitchell and Rachel Shelton Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Troy Mitchell, and one sister, Hazel Vaughn.

Frances was a member of Summerfield First Baptist Church. She was a faithful witness to any newcomer in their neighborhood, at restaurants, dentists, and doctor offices. She always carried a supply of Daily Bread booklets with her and left multiple copies in lobbies that would let her. She would probably have loved donations to that publishing company.

Frances is survived by her husband, Harvie G. McAlexander; one son, David McAlexander (Beth); one daughter, Cheryl Clark (Dwayne); three grandchildren, Ben McAlexander, Nicole Clark, and Nathan Clark; one sister, Hilda McAlexander; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joey McNeill. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. A burial will be held immediately after the service at Fairystone Baptist Church Cemetery.
