In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Sue Boyd and Brenda East and a brother David Cumbee. After moving to Martinsville VA in the early 1960’s, he met and married the love of his life Betty. They enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage. Frank followed his passion of being a business owner and he and Betty operated Betty’s Restaurant for over 20 years on 58 east in Martinsville. He also operated two produce markets locally. For over 20 years Frank also operated Betty’s Trees and along with his business partner Tommy Inman, provided the most beautiful Christmas trees and holiday experience for the community. Frank had a generous heart; he gave and loaned money to anyone who needed it. He also gave away trees to needy families at Christmas each year. Frank would let many get anything they needed with just their word to help them make it to pay day. Frank was a Christian man and lived and loved as one should. His last place of employment was Friday’s Garden Deli and although battling cancer continued to work up until July 4, 2024.Although he worked very hard to provide for his family, he made time to enjoy life and would hang a “gone fishing” sign on the door and take his family on vacations. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved making them laugh. He loved to golf with his friends and was able to experience four “hole in ones” in his lifetime. He liked playing cards with his friends on rainy days when golfing was not an option. His family could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather and friend. He provided them with everything they needed and most of what they wanted.Frank is survived by his wife, Betty Cumbee; daughters Cynthia Gee (Ernest) and Teresa Cahill, Sister Betty Carbaugh, sister-in-law Etheleen Sehen, Brothers Toby Cumbee and Timothy Cumbee. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Jason Cahill (Paige) and Bradley Cahill (Courtney Rabourn) and Great grand children Alexis Ashby, Ethan Cahill, Sophia Cahill, Layla Salgado, Elaina Cahill and Niko Cahill. Frank also leaves behind his cherished cat Lulu who never left his side.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or any organization of your choice that provides support to American veterans.
