Frank Wiseman Rowland

June 19, 1935 - May 31, 2026

Frank Wiseman Rowland, Sr., 90, of Chatham, Virginia passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Frank was born June 19, 1935 in Danville, Virginia to the late Laughton Rowland and Nora Rowland. He married the love of his life, the late Lois Simmons Rowland, on December 25, 1959. He was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, great-granddaddy, and friend who touched countless lives throughout his years.

Frank proudly served our country in the US Navy and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. He spent many years working as an electrician, a profession he took great pride in. Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his generous spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

Beyond his work and devotion to family, Frank had a passion for growing tomatoes. He was known for raising remarkably large tomato plants and producing plentiful harvests each season. One of his greatest joys was giving away tomatoes to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who could use them.

Frank is survived by his son, Frank Rowland, Jr. (Gwen); his daughters, Patricia Lamphere and Donna Hooker (Thomas); his four grandchildren, Craig Lamphere (Ashley), Christina Williams (John), Chereé Cobielles (Antonio), Jessica Allen (Darrell); twelve great-grandchildren; and his sister Carol Jean Lansaw, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Rueben “Boots” Rowland, Wesley Rowland, and L. T. “Tootie” Rowland, Jr.

A funeral service honoring Frank and his life will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church, Danville, VA with Pastor Daniel Custer officiating. A visitation of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., also at Riverview Baptist Church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, VA.

At other times, the family will receive friends and family at 1601 David Giles Lane, Blairs, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made, in Frank’s memory, to the American Cancer Society.
