Franklin Meade Gourley

December 23, 1928 - August 22, 2024

Franklin Meade Gourley, known affectionately as Frank, passed away on August 22, 2024, at the age of 95, in Henry, VA. Born on December 23, 1928, Frank was the son of Mozelle & Fitz Lee Gourley and grew up in Fieldale, VA, alongside his four brothers. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the Army, stationed in Germany before continuing as a reservist.

Frank dedicated his professional life to Blue Ridge Hardware & Supply, where he held the position of Secretary-Treasurer until his retirement. A man of many interests; Frank loved to dance, enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and rook. He was active in the TPA and had a passion for dabbling in used cars.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; his daughters, Suzette Sells (Jim), Tobey Marshall (Rob), and Ethel Ward (Mark); stepchildren, Logan Richardson and Suzanne Moore (Sherman); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Paige.

A service to celebrate Frank's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Church, 2717 Ruritan Rd, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the burial will follow the service at Burnette Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be made to Pleasant Hill Church at the same address or Carilion Clinic Hospice, 453 S Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. His legacy of dedication, love, and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
