Fred Plavney

Fred Michael Plavney, 90, of Roanoke, VA passed away on August 17, 2023.
A native of Pennsylvania, he was the son of Michael and Leona Plavney. He was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. Fred served during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a fundraiser for Junior Achievement for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Plavney of Roanoke; stepdaughter, Cheryl Jenkins of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Chester Plavney and his son, Daniel Plavney.
At the family’s request no services will be held.
