Frederick Teats

Frederick Elroy Teats, 85 of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Fred was born on November 20, 1940, in Luthersburg, PA and was a son of the late Curtis Teats and Emma Hartzfeld Teats. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Higginbotham Teats, a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Mike Waldron and six brothers and sisters.

Fred was a retired employee of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 35 years of service. He loved the outdoors and the many activities he shared with friends, ranging from working with the neighbor’s farm & cattle to helping others with home projects and repairs and tinkering with his antique Corvair cars. He attended and enjoyed the fellowship of several churches within the county and always offered prayer and shared the word of God with anyone he met.

He is survived by his son, Fredrick and Sherry Teats of Ripplemead, a brother Jim Teats, sisters, Linda Gray, Margaret Radaker and Dorothy Shrauger, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Nunes and Linda Link, six grandsons and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Home in Narrows, VA. on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11am at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA.
